Amiodarone after conversion from a non-shockable to a shockable rhythm in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A propensity score-matched analysis from the German resuscitation registry.

Resuscitation·October 6, 2026·PMID 42838501

Why it matters

Patients with initial non-shockable rhythms who later become shockable represent a challenging subgroup with poor outcomes. Current guidelines recommend amiodarone after three shocks, but its benefit in this specific population is unclear. This study provides observational evidence that amiodarone may improve survival, informing resuscitation decisions in a group where evidence is limited.
