Effect of intraoperative paravertebral or intravenous lidocaine infusion on postoperative complications and inflammation after lung resection surgery: a randomised controlled trial.
British journal of anaesthesia·November 1, 2025·PMID 40897588
Why it mattersLung resection carries a high risk of postoperative complications, and this trial provides evidence that a simple, low-cost intervention—intraoperative lidocaine—can reduce major morbidity. Anesthesiologists have a direct role in administering this therapy and may consider it as part of an enhanced recovery protocol.
