Effect of remimazolam versus propofol anaesthesia on postoperative delirium in neurovascular surgery: a randomised noninferiority trial.

British journal of anaesthesia·October 29, 2026·PMID 42957499

Why it matters

Neurovascular surgery patients are at risk for postoperative delirium, and anaesthetic choice may influence both delirium and haemodynamic stability. Remimazolam offers a reversible alternative to propofol with less hypotension, potentially improving emergence and reducing vasopressor use without increasing delirium risk.
