Graft type is not associated with revision ACL reconstruction in football players: a nationwide cohort analysis of subsequent ACL reconstructions.

British journal of sports medicine·September 3, 2026·PMID 42692807

Why it matters

Graft selection for ACL reconstruction in football players is often debated, but this large registry study suggests that autograft type does not independently influence revision risk, even in young athletes who return to play. The finding of a possible increased contralateral ACL risk with quadriceps tendon in female players warrants attention when counseling patients.
