Bidirectional association between visceral adiposity and obstructive sleep apnoea: longitudinal findings from the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort.

Thorax·July 23, 2026·PMID 42493239

Why it matters

Visceral fat and OSA may reinforce each other in a vicious cycle, particularly in younger and middle-aged adults. Recognizing this bidirectional link can guide early intervention strategies targeting visceral adiposity to potentially prevent or mitigate OSA, and vice versa.
