Home-Court Advantage and the Associations of Travel and Jet Lag with Team Performance in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).
Sports medicine - open·July 9, 2026·PMID 42426359
Why it mattersTravel-related fatigue and circadian disruption are known performance limiters in men’s elite sport, but evidence in women’s professional leagues has been lacking. These findings provide the first large-scale data in the WNBA, highlighting that despite declining home advantage, travel burden and eastward jet lag still impair performance. This is relevant for optimizing travel schedules, recovery protocols, and game preparation in women’s basketball.
