Why it matters

Relapse in alcohol use disorder remains a major clinical challenge, and current treatments have limited efficacy. This study provides mechanistic evidence that a noninvasive brain stimulation protocol can durably reduce relapse risk by modulating prefrontal control over subcortical circuits, offering a potential network-targeted intervention for addiction medicine.
