Dietary intakes of anthocyanins and cardiometabolic health: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials and prospective cohort studies in healthy participants.

The American journal of clinical nutrition·August 1, 2026·PMID 42547104

Why it matters

Prior meta-analyses showed cardiometabolic benefits of anthocyanins in mixed populations, but evidence in healthy individuals was unclear. This analysis confirms that even dietarily achievable intakes improve early markers of atherosclerosis and insulin resistance, supporting a role for anthocyanin-rich foods in primary prevention.
