Delayed Surgical Evaluation After Drug-Resistant Epilepsy Diagnosis Worsens Outcomes in Children: A Multicenter Study.

Neurology. Clinical practice·October 1, 2026·PMID 42479984

Why it matters

Delays in presurgical evaluation after DRE diagnosis are common and independently reduce the likelihood of seizure freedom in children. This study provides evidence for a 1-year benchmark to guide timely referral, particularly for patients with MRI-negative, generalized, or genetic epilepsies who are at highest risk for delay.
