Preoperative Olanzapine and Quality of Recovery after Ambulatory Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Anesthesiology·May 20, 2026·PMID 42160634

Why it matters

Postdischarge nausea and vomiting remain common and impair recovery after ambulatory surgery. This study provides evidence that adding a single low-dose olanzapine to standard antiemetics meaningfully improves patients’ overall recovery experience, not just nausea control.
