Histological aging signatures for monitoring tissue-specific aging and disease.
Nature medicine·August 14, 2026·PMID 42601488
Why it mattersAging is the dominant risk factor for chronic disease, yet organ-specific aging trajectories are poorly captured by current biomarkers. This work provides a scalable, histology-based framework to quantify tissue-level biological age, potentially enabling earlier detection of organ decline and identification of modifiable risk factors.
