Frequency and Prognosis of Alternative Definitions of Occlusion Myocardial Infarction Across the Whole Spectrum of Acute Coronary Syndromes.

JACC. Cardiovascular interventions·October 12, 2026·PMID 42863869

Why it matters

Patients with non-ST-elevation ACS and impaired culprit artery flow have 1-year mortality similar to STEMI, yet current triage and treatment pathways may not prioritize them equally. Recognizing OMI by coronary flow rather than ECG alone could refine risk stratification and urgency of intervention.
