Asundexian versus Apixaban in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation.

The New England journal of medicine·January 2, 2025·PMID 39225267

Why it matters

Factor XIa inhibition is a promising strategy to reduce bleeding while preventing stroke, but this trial shows that asundexian 50 mg is not effective for stroke prevention compared to apixaban, despite fewer bleeds. This informs ongoing development of other factor XIa inhibitors and dosing strategies.
