Emergency Department Visits for Falls and First-Time Seizure.

Neurology·November 10, 2026·PMID 42848964

Why it matters

Unrecognized seizures are common and lead to delayed diagnosis, injury, and mortality. Falls are frequent ED presentations and may signal an underlying seizure. This study suggests that a recent fall—especially within a week—could be a missed opportunity to consider seizure as a cause, potentially prompting earlier evaluation and intervention.
