Association of Intraoperative Narrow Pulse Pressure during Normotension with Postoperative Acute Kidney Injury: A Retrospective Cohort Analysis.

Anesthesiology·July 17, 2026·PMID 42479566

Why it matters

Intraoperative hemodynamic monitoring often focuses on mean arterial pressure, but this study suggests that narrow pulse pressure may indicate low-flow states and occult hypoperfusion, increasing AKI risk despite apparently adequate MAP. This challenges the sufficiency of MAP-guided care alone.
