Neuroprognostication after cardiac arrest in patients without withdrawal of life-sustaining therapy: a prospective observational multicenter study.

Critical care (London, England)·July 24, 2026·PMID 42509572

Why it matters

Neuroprognostication after cardiac arrest is complicated by self-fulfilling prophecy when life-sustaining therapy is withdrawn early. By excluding patients with early WLST, this study provides more reliable estimates of prognostic accuracy, helping clinicians avoid premature pessimistic predictions and better identify patients with potential for recovery.
