Glycocalyx-edited mesenchymal stem/stromal cell therapy in advanced osteoporosis.

Cell·September 11, 2026·PMID 42727576

Why it matters

Advanced osteoporosis remains difficult to treat, and current anabolic agents have limitations. This study provides early human evidence that enhancing MSC osteotropism via glycocalyx editing may offer a durable, cell-based approach to reduce fractures and improve bone quality, potentially addressing a major unmet need in skeletal regenerative medicine.
