Targeted Assessment in High-Risk Patients With Diabetes to Identify Undiagnosed Heart Failure (TARTAN-HF).

Journal of the American College of Cardiology·August 11, 2026·PMID 42615958

Why it matters

Heart failure is a common but often unrecognized complication of diabetes, and early detection enables initiation of disease-modifying therapies. This trial demonstrates that a simple NT-proBNP screening strategy can identify a substantial burden of undiagnosed HF, particularly HFpEF, in high-risk diabetic patients, potentially improving outcomes through earlier treatment.
