Why it mattersDespite federal policy changes, buprenorphine prescribing has stagnated nationally. This study provides real-world evidence that a municipal, low-threshold, rapid-access model can significantly expand buprenorphine dispensing, offering a scalable strategy for addiction medicine and internal medicine clinicians to improve opioid use disorder treatment access.
