Effect of aspirin on healthspan in community-dwelling older adults: the ASPirin in reducing events in the elderly study.

Age and ageing·July 2, 2026·PMID 42497096

Why it matters

Low-dose aspirin is commonly considered for primary prevention in older adults, but its effect on overall healthspan—beyond individual disease endpoints—has been unclear. This large RCT provides strong evidence that aspirin does not delay the composite onset of major age-related chronic conditions or death in initially healthy older individuals.
