Pericapsular nerve group block with phenol for non-operative hip fracture management in patients living with frailty: a prospective multicentre cohort study.
Anaesthesia·September 8, 2026·PMID 42711957
Why it mattersFor frail patients with hip fracture who are not surgical candidates, effective analgesia is challenging due to limited long-term options. This study provides real-world evidence that chemical neurolysis via PENG block can achieve acceptable pain control with a favorable safety profile, potentially reducing opioid reliance and improving comfort in a population with high mortality.
