Plasma phosphorylated tau 217 concentrations, APOE genotype, and timing of cognitive impairment in individuals across diverse racial and ethnic groups: a pooled analysis of prospective cohort studies.
The Lancet. Neurology·September 9, 2026·PMID 42716078
Why it mattersPlasma p-tau217 is emerging as a key Alzheimer's biomarker, but risk stratification may be improved by considering APOE genotype. This study shows that combining the two provides more precise estimates of risk and timing of cognitive decline, which could inform monitoring and early intervention in at-risk individuals.
