Longitudinal plasma proteomics predict phenoconversion to clinically manifest ALS.

Nature medicine·July 27, 2026·PMID 42509371

Why it matters

Predicting which pre-symptomatic carriers of ALS-associated variants will develop clinically manifest disease and when remains a major barrier to prevention trials. A validated multi-protein panel could enable risk stratification, earlier intervention, and more efficient trial design in this high-risk population.
