Why it matters

In septic shock, targeting higher MAP often fails to improve survival and may identify patients with worse outcomes due to impaired vascular responsiveness. The MAP/NEQ ratio offers a simple bedside metric to quantify vasoplegia and may improve early risk stratification beyond achieved MAP alone.
