Randomized Trialhigh evidence

Safety and efficacy of individualised exercise and NAD+ precursor supplementation in patients with Friedreich's ataxia in the USA: a single-centre, 2 × 2 factorial, randomised controlled trial.

The Lancet. Neurology·May 1, 2026·PMID 42009009

Why it matters

Friedreich's ataxia has no disease-modifying therapy, and low cardiopulmonary fitness worsens function. This trial provides early evidence that a home-based exercise program with or without NR may improve fitness, a clinically meaningful endpoint.
