Why it matters

Pre-exercise hyperventilation is sometimes promoted to buffer exercise-induced acidosis and enhance high-intensity performance, but this well-controlled study shows no benefit in a real-world applicable protocol for incline sprints. The negative subjective experience further argues against its use.
