Causal Effect and Personalization of Intraoperative Hypotension Burden on Postoperative Acute Kidney Injury: A Doubly Robust Analysis of the VitalDB Cohort.

Journal of personalized medicine·July 10, 2026·PMID 42506097

Why it matters

Intraoperative hypotension is a common and potentially modifiable risk factor for postoperative AKI, but its causal impact and which patients are most vulnerable have been unclear. This study provides causal estimates and shows that high-risk patients can be identified preoperatively, enabling targeted hemodynamic management.
