Acute Coronary Occlusions in NSTEMI Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: Insights From the CathPCI Registry.

JACC. Cardiovascular interventions·October 12, 2026·PMID 42863865

Why it matters

Acute coronary occlusion without ST elevation is a high-risk subset that may be under-recognized. These patients have more cardiogenic shock, ventricular arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest than NSTEMI without occlusion, suggesting potential benefit from earlier identification and reperfusion.
