Semaglutide and cardiovascular outcomes by baseline and changes in adiposity measurements: a prespecified analysis of the SELECT trial.

Lancet (London, England)·November 8, 2025·PMID 41138739

Why it matters

For clinicians using semaglutide 2.4 mg for cardiovascular risk reduction in obesity without diabetes, this analysis suggests the MACE benefit should not be judged by how much weight a patient loses. Cardiovascular benefit appears broadly present across adiposity strata and only partly linked to central adiposity change.
