Associations of Ultraprocessed Food Intake, Wearable-Measured Lifestyle Factors, and Genetic Susceptibility With Incident Type 2 Diabetes.

Diabetes·September 17, 2026·PMID 42752808

Why it matters

Type 2 diabetes prevention often focuses on diet and genetics, but the interplay with wearable-measured lifestyle factors is less clear. This study provides evidence that modifiable behaviors—particularly adequate sleep and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity—are associated with lower diabetes risk even among individuals with high genetic susceptibility and high ultraprocessed food intake, offering actionable targets for risk reduction.
